The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) retained the services of Wood Rodgers to provide engineering support services for floodplain delineation and floodplain management activities within the Lower Sacramento River Basin as part of the Central Valley Floodplain Evaluation and Delineation Program (CVFED). The CVFED Program is one of several programs within DWR’s FloodSAFE California initiative to improve integrated flood management throughout California, with particular emphasis on issues pertaining to facilities of the State Plan of Flood Control (SPFC). For this seven-year, $38 million contract,Wood Rodgers led a team comprised of 18 national and international firms to deliver over 40 task orders consisting of land surveys, bathymetric surveys, acquisition and processing of LiDAR and aerial photography, one- and two-dimensional hydraulic modeling of rivers and floodplains, floodplain mapping, and associated GIS and CADD services. Wood Rodgers also conducted two concurrent flood studies for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in conjunction with DWR as part of the Cooperating Technical Partners Program.
