Wood Rodgers provided construction quality control and surveying services during construction of Ely Airports Southwest General Aviation Apron and Taxiways A & B. Construction testing and inspection services including materials testing of soils, concrete and asphalt, along with specific Asphalt mix designs were also provided by Wood Rodgers. Field quality control included compaction testing, concrete testing and asphalt monitoring and testing during placement. Our surveying services included construction staking (limits, red-heads, and blue-tops) for the removal and replacement of asphalt necessary to reconstruct the apron and taxiways. Construction staking was also provided for restriping of the new apron and taxiways. Despite difficult weather and materials conditions; the project exceeded the materials requirements of the FAA.
