Transportation Planning and Corridor Studies
Our staff is more than just planners and engineers who simply apply traffic models created by others. We are first principle modelers who create traffic models from scratch as needed by our clients. Our staff is proficient in the use of a variety of transportation planning software including CUBE/Voyager, TransCAD, and VISUM, and Traffic Operations Analysis software including Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS+, RODEL and SIDRA. We believe in utilizing an easy-to-understand, intuitive, common-sense approach in documenting traffic model results to facilitate decision making. Our reports and work products use state-of-the-practice tools, including use of Geographic Information systems (GIS) technology, and meet the latest demands of the industry – including compliance with appropriate CEQA and NEPA mandates, most current legislative requirements, and leading-edge technical innovations. The Wood Rodgers Transportation Planning Group has extensive experience in the creation and maintenance of Travel Demand Models for agencies of all sizes and scale; implementing multi-modal Transportation Impact Studies in support of CEQA documents for development projects; and traffic forecasting and operations analysis reports in support of Caltrans highway and interchange projects.
Wood Rodgers is well versed in preparing corridor studies that determine the best way to serve existing and future travel demand. Our Transportation Planners and Engineers bring together the goals and expectations of all groups involved in a project to facilitate the development of a comprehensive corridor study to address the specific transportation related problems identified for a segment of state or federal highway or a local road. Corridor studies allow for the resolution of major planning issues prior to the initiation of project development; the identification and possibly preservation of transportation right-of-way; the protection of transportation investments and the opportunity for partnerships with public and private agencies and organizations.
