Peckham Lane is a major east-west arterial with approximately 19,000 Average Daily Traffic (ADT). This project consisted of the reconstruction of approximately 1.5 miles of two- and four-lane roadway from Kietzke Lane to Longley Lane in Reno, Nevada. Wood Rodgers’ innovative design approach allowed the initial project limits to be increased while decreasing the overall cost of the project, thereby creating a greater benefit for the community. This project was especially challenging because Peckham Lane is adjacent to the Reno/Tahoe International Airport runway and a portion of the airport’s Instrument Landing System (ILS) was within the project limits. Wood Rodgers conducted an in-depth geotechnical investigation, developed pavement design alternatives that addressed the varying sub-surface conditions throughout the limits of the project, and provided a complete civil design that included removal and replacement of over 32,000 square yards of AC pavement, over 2,000 linear feet of curb and gutter, over 4,800 square feet of sidewalk, and the ADA retrofit of 18 pedestrian ramps.
