The Southeast McCarran Boulevard Rehabilitation and Widening Project encompasses a 5.1 mile section of McCarran Boulevard. Improvements included pavement rehabilitation, lane widening, and the addition of a multi-purpose path and aesthetic improvements. Our geotechnical engineering services included: advancing borings at night to limit impact to businesses and traffic, performing materials testing on cores and aggregates to adequately characterize the existing section for design, performing analyses and review of measured structural pavement sections and existing pavement conditions, providing material engineering assistance for concrete pavement intersection design, providing recommendations and assistance regarding road bed modification (RBM) approaches and construction constraints, and presenting geotechnical design values necessary for retaining wall and sound barrier wall designs.
