Wood Rodgers has been very innovative in exploring contemporary techniques for slope stabilization evaluations in lieu relying solely on customary drilling or trenching techniques. The refraction microtremor (ReMi) method provides an effective means to acquire one-dimensional shear wave velocity profiles to provide site specific site classification data as required by the IBC. By providing a series of successive analyses, two-dimensional profiles can be generated and a ‘window’ into the subsurface profile created.

Wood Rodgers has the technology and the understanding that different sites have different soil conditions, and the expertise to save our clients money. Wood Rodgers has also explored ReMi methods to characterize historic scour for active stream environments. By accessing the stream at low flow, a scour ‘window’ can be obtained where conventional drilling methods could lead to subjective observations and assessments. While we would not propose eliminating traditional methods when attempting to evaluate scour, we are able to use alternative methods when merited.
