Under current conditions, sediment and nutrient laden runoff from the project site flows untreated directly to Lake Tahoe. There is a need to maximize source control through shoulder rehabilitation and provide pretreatment and intensive filtering for stormwater discharged to Lake Tahoe. Wood Rodgers was responsible for developing a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) to participate in the Regional Stormwater Quality Improvement Committee (SWQIC) process. Wood Rodgers facilitated that process on behalf of the City on an accelerated schedule to prepare the required SWQIC documentation, assist the City with funding options, complete all baseline resource assessments including cultural resources, plant communities, wildlife habitat, sensitive species, noxious weeds, waters of the United States and stream environment zone, and TRPA soils/hydrologic/geotechnical investigations and environmental document, prepare USFS-LTBMU NEPA compliance documents to support a Special Use Permit, and the CEQA Initial Study to secure a Mitigated Negative Declaration, Public Scoping and Outreach, and civil design plans, design specifications and cost estimates for all proposed project elements including erosion control revegetation.

The first phase of the project has been successfully constructed and received TRPA’s Best in the Basin Award for 2010.
