Wood Rodgers provided surveying and civil design services for the redevelopment of an existing 2-acre commercial site where a new 30,000 square-foot blood processing and test lab was constructed. The civil work on the project included extensive coordination with the project team to place the building on the very constrained site. Other work on the project included the preparation and processing of plans for demolition, grading, wet utilities, sewer lift station, and stormwater quality. Among the unique challenges in the design of the new BloodSource laboratory was the preparation of plans for a temporary private sewer force main and permanent telecommunication interconnect conduit, both of which were core bored under public streets and required extensive coordination with the City. At the request of BloodSource in order to meet lease termination obligations, this was an extremely fast track project, with all design and agency approvals completed within six weeks of the project start date.
