Wood Rodgers provided design services for widening Bradshaw Road from two to four lanes between Calvine Road and Florin Road (3 miles) in eastern Sacramento County. The project included construction of new bridges at Laguna Creek and Gerber Creek to replace an existing bridge and box culvert, construction of a 12-foot wide raised landscaped median, construction of bicycle and pedestrian facilities, reconstruction of an at-grade railroad crossing, relocation of existing overhead and underground utilities, modification of existing traffic signals and installation of a 48-inch water main. We also provided right-of-way engineering services, and full hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of both waterways for the project.

Our Group managed numerous challenges throughout the duration of the project including the complex structural, environmental and hydraulic issues due to design of both bridges. Strategic planning assisted in the accommodation of driveway access for numerous homes and businesses. Other challenges included avoidance of encroachment on wetlands, creatively addressed by steepening the side slopes, providing limited width drainage ditches and piping the runoff to the opposite side of the road, coordination with adjacent properties, right of way acquisition, railroad coordination and utility relocation.
