City of Bishop, Hydrogeologic Service
Wood Rodgers was retained by the City of Bishop (City) to provide hydrogeologic consulting services to assess the current operational condition of the City’s two permitted drinking water wells. The objectives of the well site assessments were to establish the current operational condition of the well structures, pumps, and associated pumping equipment in order to obtain data that could be used to improve the overall efficiency, reliability, and performance of the City’s wells. The assessments were conducted in two phases consisting of a testing program that was designed to measure the static water level, pumping water levels, sand production, and overall pumping plant efficiency (OPE); and the removal and inspection of the pumping equipment. While the pumping equipment was being inspected, video inspections were performed to assess the condition of the well structures for age-related wear and structural damage. Wood Rodgers provided the City with a report detailing the recommended pump repairs and well condition assessments.
Wood Rodgers also conducted an exploratory drilling program to assess a new well site for the City. Wood Rodgers prepared a well design report which included two production well design options to meet the City’s desired well capacity and water quality objectives. These projects were completed on time and under budget.
