Wood Rodgers services included PS&E, permit application preparation, and environmental documentation support for this Placer County water quality improvement, recreation, and habitat restoration project on property owned by State agencies. The project consists of 35 acres of SEZ restoration and wildlife/habitat enhancement along Lake Forest and Polaris Creeks, within a developed area that includes a high proportion of existing recreational features and nodes with varying degrees of linkage. Nearly one linear mile of channel restoration is included, with a boardwalk crossing to perpetuate an existing trail.

Riparian and habitat restoration, engineering, and recreation design elements were combined to enhance and mitigate, rather than compete with, this popular multiple use area. Wood Rodgers was awarded follow-on design after successfully completing a multi-year planning and preliminary design process. Spawning Kokanee returned to this stream the year of construction completion after a 40-year absence. The Project was awarded a Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s Best-in-the-Basin Award for 2011.
