Location: Lake Tahoe, California
This study examined 40 miles of roadside environment from Tahoe City to Echo Lake and identified areas where the existing natural conditions provide adequate treatment of stormwater runoff. Existing surface areas where runoff is dispersed and treated by natural retention/detention and vegetation are considered Natural Environment As Treatment (NEAT) areas. GIS played an integral role in the collection and management of study data. A data dictionary was developed for each feature type which standardized data collection and minimized hand entry in the field, therefore offering our client a more cost-effective solution.
