Wood Rodgers assisted the client, Desert Research Institute (DRI), in engaging members of the university, governmental agencies, as well as the business community to help define the long term vision for the development of this property. The objective was to attract private businesses and entrepreneurial start-ups that will complement the environmental science and renewable energy research mission at the University of Nevada Reno (UNR) and support the workforce development programs at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC). Five distinct development zones with a mix of R&D/Office and workforce housing were created within a natural open space setting and interconnected with bicycle and pedestrian trails. Wood Rodgers also assisted the client in obtaining a $2,850,000 Economic Development Authority (EDA) grant for infrastructure and roadways improvements.
