Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
The Las Vegas West Alexander Loop Trail is a 100-acre study area located on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land on the North West side of the Las Vegas Valley. This is a portion of a regional open space corridor that will eventually surround the Las Vegas Valley, protect the visual backdrop of the community and provide access to surrounding recreational areas. The trail will provide a transition between urban development and the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. This project will focus on providing a 6-foot wide concrete trail; a 6-foot wide natural trail; an approximately 2.1-acre congregation area with covered rest areas; binocular lookout stations; a trailhead plaque; way finding kiosks; trail identity markers; and plant identification plaques. The goal of this study is to determine whether or not this site is a feasible location for a trail with these amenities along with securing funding through the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act.
